Kick Ass ended up being one of my favorite movies when I went see it a few years ago. It was filled with action, humor, and a sense of craziness that got my blood pumping in excitement. Based on the closing scene where Chris D’Amico says “Wait’l ya get a load of me”, we are led to believe that there may be a sequel. To my disappointment a good deal of time went by and I was forced to accept that there wouldn’t be one…until earlier last year when I came across the Kick Ass 2 Trailer. I WAS ECSTATIC! This trailer had made my year! But, could Kick Ass 2 top the original movie?

Kick Ass 2 picks up quite a bit later from where the original film left off. We learn that Dave Lizewski (played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson) had given up being Kick Ass, settling for a normal life but is now getting back in the game, training with Mindy Macready “Hit Girl” (Chloe Grace Moretz). Dave’s choice to become Kick-Ass again was influenced by others in the city becoming their own versions of super hero’s thanks to his original influence on them in the first movie.

Chris D’Amico (Christopher Mintz-Plasse), who now goes by his super villain name “The Motherfucker” is out to find Kick Ass and make him pay for killing his father, Frank D’Amico (Mark Strong). While Chris is assembling his evil army, Kick Ass’s team is growing as well, with more people wanting to make a difference in the city.

Kick Ass 2 takes things to a whole new level with some unexpected events and even more action than before. It’s the new and improved “must see” sequel that will get you excited if you’re a fan. And if you haven’t seen either movie, I’d recommend at least giving the first one a chance. Kick Ass takes a modern day, realistic look  at what being a superhero really means.
