It’s difficult to even look at Jason Sudeikis anymore without laughing, and in 2013’s, We’re the Millers, he once again has us rolling over in our seats.
The Story: Drug dealer, David Clark (Jason Sudeikis) is robbed of his drugs and cash stockpile, leaving him to have an awkward conversation with his very rich, and notably abnormal, drug lord boss, Brad Gurdlinger (Ed Helms). Gurdlinger presents a solution to David’s problem that will have him smuggling drugs into the country. David isn’t ready for such action, but Gurdlinger makes it clear that it isn’t optional. Knowing how dangerous of a task this would be, David hires some acquaintances of his to pose as a vacationing family. Who would ever suspect anything then?
It’s life’s random moments that occasionally make us laugh in our every day lives. So how about a movie that offers several of them? We’re the Millers is full of surprises and humorous events as we watch David’s plan unfold, just not the way he had intentioned.
The cast was assembled very well, also featuring Jennifer Aniston and Emma Roberts. (This isn’t the first time Sudeikis and Aniston have starred in a film together. Recall “Horrible Bosses”, which was also another great comedy.) It isn’t every day that we get a movie with just the right actors to convey just the right emotions to the audience, but this one, I’m proud to say, did.
So many movies these days seem thrown together in a hurry to make a quick buck, but some, like this one, prove that there are some good ones still out there being produced. I would normally have a pros and cons list, but I’m going to make this one of my simplest movie reviews and say that I wasn’t disappointed in the slightest, nor do I have any complaints about watching it. I simply enjoyed it. I believe that this movie could help you end a bad day a little bit better.
My rating: 90% for entertaining me in the way that every good movie should, and not trying to be something that it’s not.
Be sure to check out the trailer below. Thanks for reading.
It’s not hilarious, but when it’s fun and wacky, it’s a great thing to be watching and involved with. Good review.
When I first watched it, I have to admit I was in tears from laughing at a couple parts so hard, so I probably found it funnier than many people did. But it is indeed a good watch. Sadly (and i should have mentioned it in the review) I think that this is a movie that will get less and less funny, and even less enjoyable overall, the more times you watch it. That would have to be my complaint about it.
Thank you for the feedback.
