In the midst of the cold harsh winter you may find yourself in search of some good movies to curl up and watch…well look no further fellow viewers!

#4 The Iron Lady (2011)

Staring Meryl Streep, The Iron Lady depicts the life of Margaret Thatcher, the UK’s longest serving Prime Minister of the 20th Century, and the only woman to have held such a position. Streep’s performance is simply riveting. We already knew she could play a woman of significant power from The Devil Wears Prada (2006), and yet once again she shows us all just how well she can kick some ass with her extensive talent.

#3 Stand By Me (1986)

Four friends go on a journey so see a dead body. During the course of their trip they face some serious challenges, while at the same time strengthening the bond of true friendship. Eliciting bravery, courage, and adventure, this 80’s classic will be forever remembered, and will always make for some real movie viewing entertainment. Stars include: Will Wheaton, River Phoenix, Corey Feldman, and Jerry O’Connell.

#2 American Beauty (1999)

Age is only a number right? So when a man (Kevin Spacey) falls in love with his daughters (Thora Birch) high school best friend (Mena Suvari), there’s nothing weird about that at all… In fact the weirdest part about this movie was that I saw the little girl from the classic Halloween movie “Hocus Pocus” completely topless. Thora Birch was only 16 years old by the time this movie was made, and received permission from her parents (originally adult film actors) to do the scene. Nudity aside, this movie was an incredible end to the 90’s movie era.

#1 Trading Places (1983)

With more money than they know what to do with, the Duke brothers make a bet that a man off the streets could do the job of a commodities trader just as well as their best one! They therefore transform each of the men’s lives, giving the homeless fool a new job, high pay, and a fancy house, while at the same time, taking all of that away from their best trader. Staring Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd, this is an 80’s film that I could watch all day long!

Thanks for reading as always, and be sure to check these fantastic movies out, all of which are currently available on Netflix!
